Description:
Even though many English speakers aren’t familiar with the word Equanimity, it’s one of the crown jewels of Buddhist practice, and in the context of the Factors of Awakening, it represents the state of mind right before enlightenment.
In this talk, we’ll break down equanimity, explore it in everyday language and see how it essentially points us towards a deeper and deeper state of non-reactivity. We’ll look at some ways to develop it, how it depends less on what’s happening “out there” and more how we are “relating” to what’s happening. We’ll explore how it differentiates from indifference or resignation, and actually implies a real ability to be responsive and relates to life with kindnesss and compassion. Finally, we’ll explore it in the context of the Factor of Awakening and how it sets the stage for enlightenment.
