Description:
In this talk, we’ll discuss some of the various translations of mettā, but will focus more on what it actually is: an attitude, intention, or genuine well-wishing. We’ll talk about four of its most defining qualities, how it differentiates from what people typically think of as “love,” and the way that it’s ultimately governed by wisdom.
We’ll also look at the role of feelings of warmth, how you could have mettā even for someone you’re at odds with, meditative techniques, various ways to develop it, and some of the benefits of cultivating it.
